Our Milford coworkers in Ohio hosted a cookout the second Thursday of September to help celebrate the start of the National Football League—or NFL, for us insiders—season! Almost the entire site showed up repping their own teams’ colors, leading to more than a few friendly cornhole tournaments.

Maria Aispura, ELL Well Director for Hermosillo and Nogales, introduces some of the highlights that Hispanics Unidos are celebrating this month. Part of this celebration is RDI’s very own cooking show! September 16th’s focus was on Peruvian ceviche; check in on Facebook to discover a mouth-watering delight from Mexico for October 7th!
National Hispanic Heritage Month runs from September 15 to October 15 and covers diverse cultures from Spain to Argentina. With this wide variety of histories and traditions, we won’t be able to spotlight everything; however, Hispanics Unidos does have you covered with movie recommendations, employee spotlights, and even dance classes!
Thanks to RDI’s community connections in the Greater Cincinnati area, many of our local employees and their families were offered free Cincinnati Reds tickets for a game against the Washington Nationals (booo!).
Take a peek at all the fun, laughter, smiles, and snacks—Cracker Jack, anyone?—that were had. With a final score of 2-3, this one did not belong to the Reds; however, the time we spent together was the real WIN.
Joi Turner, RDI’s very first Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Director, shares her RDI success story. It all began in April 2018 when Kelcie Best, Vice President of East Coast Operations, invited Joi to join RDI’s brand new Learning & Development team.
Joi jumped from strength to strength within Learning & Development and Operations until partnering with senior leadership on RDI’s corporate DEI strategy and RDI IDEAL, our internal diversity leadership council. Joi helped implement diversity and inclusion training into all internal development programs.
Like so many, Joi found RDI to be a fantastic place to seize opportunities and develop skills through the trust that leadership places in all our employees. RDI’s growth and development mindset led to Joi’s most recent career opportunity: Director of DEI strategy at another organization. Congratulations to Joi!
A long-time community partner of RDI, Meals on Wheels, reached out earlier this summer for assistance servicing the local area: delivering Birthday Boxes! These birthday boxes have everything you need for some birthday fun, including birthday hats, cards, and of course, CAKE! RDI employees and leadership stepped up to the challenge, as always!
Meals on Wheels’ Birthday Box program aims to connect seniors in local communities with others and celebrate them. This program also helps to fight senior isolation, loneliness, and food scarcity. These delivery drivers are sometimes the only person a senior will see in a week, so a very special thank you to every RDI leader who volunteered their time to make someone else’s week a bit brighter.
On June 25, 2022, Cincinnati celebrated its annual pride parade to commemorate the historic 1969 Stonewall Riots.
This parade seeks to create community and foster a safe place for LGBTQIA+ persons within the Greater Cincinnati area and the world. RDI Corp, its employees, its families, and our LGBTQIA+ allies showed up and showed out to assist! Watch our video recap to see our many employees who attended!

Each month, senior leaders participate in an Affinity Group spotlight to ensure leadership maintains their understanding of the necessity and importance of each Affinity Group to RDI’s diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. This June, RDI Pride was the Affinity Group Spotlight. Ashley Snowden (RDI Pride, Executive Chair), Stephanie O’Ryan (ELL Well Director, RDI Latonia), Andy McCarthy (Senior Director, Culture & Retention), and Katrina Pankuch (Director, Talent Acquisition & Marketing) sat down for a roundtable discussion of their key takeaways, some as members of the LGBTQIA+ community and others as allies.
One of the biggest takeaways from Andy hit the nail on the head for what RDI’s affinity groups aim to do: he learned “how to educate my children to be inclusive and kind, and how to ignore media stereotyping of all people, but especially the LGBTQIA+ community….Education is the biggest thing, and involvement.” We love an ally.
Our most recent Leadership Bootcamp class shares their essential takeaways after their week-long intensive training. Bootcamp explores RDI’s business nuances from the ground level and up, providing a different perspective to emerging and developing leaders. Brittany Sarver, a recent graduate from RDI Milford, shares: “I’m really grateful for the opportunity. I haven’t worked at a place like RDI where they’re inclusive, and they support their team in the constant [career] development and growth.”
