Proud and Loud: RDI Celebrates Diversity and Inclusion in Cincinnati Pride Parade

At RDI, our commitment to diversity and inclusion goes beyond words—it’s embedded in our culture and daily practices. We believe that a diverse workforce not only enhances our environment but is also key to our success. Our Affinity Groups, which are employee-led and inclusive of all supporters and allies, play a crucial role in fostering an equitable workplace.

This year, RDI proudly participated in the Cincinnati Pride Parade, where our team celebrated unity, love, and the vibrant diversity that makes us stronger. Dozens of employees marched through downtown Cincinnati on Saturday, June 22, for the city’s Pride celebration. Battling 90-degree heat, these RDI workers handed out candy, RDI Pride sunglasses, and other swag to the cheering supporters lining the streets. They were joined by the Cincinnati Cougars, a women’s football team sponsored by RDI. Carrying #PrideforEveryone banners and decked out in beautiful pride colors, these employees represented RDI’s dedication to unity and acceptance.

Ashley Snowden, Senior Program Manager and RDI Pride Director, captured the excitement of the day: “Here we are at the 51st Annual Cincinnati Pride Parade. We’ve got the truck decorated, and our swag bags are ready. We’ve got members of the company here to join us, along with the Cincinnati Cougars, and we’re really excited. Today’s an awesome day – lots of colors, lots of laughs, lots of people happy, and this is why we enjoy coming here.”

RDI’s participation touched several employees. Jake Moore, an RDI agent, shared, “It’s a great feeling working for RDI and having a workplace that’s very supportive of the LGBTQIA+ community. It’s uplifting both in the workplace and outside of it. I love being a part of this experience – my own boss is out here showing their pride, and I love it.”

Other team members echoed this sentiment. Dasha Gray, Program Manager, appreciated the chance to “celebrate unity and love” with everyone. Anthony Higdon Smith, a 10-year RDI employee, felt RDI’s participation shows it “cares for and respects LGBTQIA+ associates and employees.” Nathan Martin, another RDI agent, noted that Pride helps people feel “represented and welcome” no matter what.

RDI’s commitment to the LGBTQIA+ community extends far beyond the parade. Year-round, Snowden leads efforts to celebrate diversity at RDI and beyond. Whether it’s movie nights or craft nights to decorate signs for Pride parades and other events, Snowden creates a welcoming space for all members of the community.

“Pride is important to us at RDI,” Snowden emphasized. “By participating in Pride, we demonstrate our focus on creating an inclusive and diverse workplace. This sends a message to our employees, customers, and potential recruits that we value and support LGBTQIA+ individuals. It shows that we are community-driven and interested in contributing positively to the communities in which we operate. It also fosters innovation and creativity within our organization – different perspectives and backgrounds can lead to better problem-solving and decision-making, which helps our employees grow while improving our bottom line.”

Looking ahead, RDI aims to continue embracing and celebrating what makes each of us unique. We’re ramping up our diversity and inclusion initiatives, and we want you to be a part of it. Whether joining an Affinity Group or participating in our next big event, your involvement strengthens our community.
